Made for Success

This past Christmas Barbi and I finally broke down and bought the boys a dog... a 5 ½ month old Shetland Sheep Dog (a Sheltie). She gave us that look (that only a dog can give) everytime we went into the pet store in our local shopping mall.
We've been telling people that we "rescued" the dog from the pet store because it had been there in a cage for three months. I'm not sure why no one wanted her, but the older she got the less likely it was that she would be going home with someone... most people really want a little puppy.
One of the down sides of her being in a cage for so long is that she doesn't know what she's capable of doing. For instance, "Princess" took one look at the stairs inside our home and thought, "there's no way I can climb those things!" But, truth is, God made her to have the muscles to easily climb the stairs.
As I looked at Princess cowering at the bottom of the stairs, I thought of you and me; God has fashioned us for success. As believers we are "more than conquerors", and there is nothing that we can't do in His strength. But sometimes we whimper at the bottom of the stairs of life, don't we?!
But we have so much beyond muscle structure and breeding. As believers we have the spirit of God dwelling within us. He is the power that can help us to climb any mountain, cross the deepest sea, and even dance through the desert.
PS: A couple of weeks after getting Princess I was playing with her in the livingroom, flipping her over and scratching her belly. She was having a good time. All of a sudden she flipped her little leg under and it turned the wrong direction and she broke her foot. Pray for Princess... Also, pray for daddy... he's in the doghouse right now.
