Turn Off The TV
USGN
Article - January 2001
Terry & Barbi Franklin Written
by Terry Franklin Imagine yourself living in Germany and raising a family in 1937.
Adolph Hitler has been in power for 4 years. You’ve seen tremendous
changes: An economy that was in
shambles has turned around. There
is incredible patriotism. But something is wrong... As
a Christian, you sense that people are being manipulated.
Even cartoons and comic books are used to indoctrinate children so they
can be used in the future by the government.
Further, those who oppose the Nazis either disappear, or are belittled to
such a degree that they are dismissed by the public as crazy. Minister of Popular Enlightenment and
Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, controlled
all publications, radio, motion pictures, and the arts.
His job was to persuade both Germans and those outside of Germany to
believe in the goals the Nazis had. And
to do it he used “spin”. Lying. One night you are sitting at the dinner table with your wife and two
young children when you make a momentous decision. You say to your family, “From now on we are not looking at
the newspapers, listening to the radio, or looking at magazines.
We will look for other ways to get our news.
And we will pray and discuss things as a family.” Brothers and sisters, while things are
certainly not this bad in our nation, we have entered an era of unprecedented
lying and manipulation by the mainstream media.
Remember, “SPINNING” IS LYING. It’s time to turn the TV off. In many homes the TV is left on all day. Families have supper around the TV. When folks drop by for a visit the TV is left on.
Why not give it a break and find other ways to get your news.
Other than FoxNews there isn’t much news on TV that doesn’t display a
consistent liberal bias. And since you’re now sitting there in the silence with your family, why not talk about the things you believe in, maybe read the Proverb of the day asking God for wisdom. Maybe say a prayer together. Imagine
if lots of families did this...
