The Nehemiah Mode

Terry and I have been in a unique season of our ministry... We’ve been calling it “The Nehemiah Mode”.  It’s been exciting and enlightening, yet also very challenging.

Last year Terry and I began to build a new outreach and training center that God had given us a vision for a few years ago.  We have seen this vision miraculously being birthed right before our very eyes.  But it has been accompanied with many challenges.

Soon into our building project, I was grateful to God for the little daily devotional Terry had given me, written by Selwyn Hughes.  Through these anointed writings and Spirit-filled pages of rhema words from God, the story of Nehemiah and the restoration of the wall of Jerusalem began to unfold in my heart.  God was speaking directly into our circumstances through this Godly man’s inspiring teachings.

One of the greatest things I related to was the fact that the enemy did everything he could to stop the restoration and building of this wall.  When God’s enemies came against Nehemiah, he had to put ½ of the people on guard (I see this as representing prayer).

That left only 50% of his workers to do the rebuilding.  But then you read on...  You see that ½ of that 50% were told to carry a weapon in one hand and use the other to carry the building materials to the rest of the crew that was building.  So only 25% of them were left to do the actual task at hand...rebuilding the wall.

Wow!  This had to slow them down, not to mention that it would tend to demoralize everyone.  But God gave them victory even though it took a long time and they faced the constant taunting and intimidation of the enemy!

Sometimes, the devil tries to threaten us by taking away our capacity to do things the way we’ve done them in the past.  But, just you wait and see what God has when His miracle unfolds in your life!  Don’t get discouraged!  Keep being faithful, and God will soon pour out a blessing that is so big you can’t contain it all.  You can count on Him!
