Hang On For Dear Life!

I hope every one of you have had a chance to see the movie, “Luther”.  It will be an all-time favorite for our family.

Lately, Terry and I have been sensing urgency in our spirits for the body of Christ.  We believe that we will need to be well prepared for future events.  No one should be overly paranoid, but it seems that the “handwriting is on the wall” as contempt toward Jesus Christ and His followers in America grows more intense.

In Revelation 12:12 we read that in the last days the fury of the enemy will be great against the believers because he knows his time is short.  And even Jesus prophesied that persecution would be a part of the end times.  We know there are many who have and are giving their lives for Jesus name in other parts of the world.  But you may say, “How could that ever come to America,” (as our roots are deeply imbedded in Christianity and developed by those with a stalwart faith in Jesus Christ and His Word)?

All I know is that we are seeing things today that we’ve never seen in our history as a nation.  Who would have thought that the foundational representative (a monument of the 10 Commandments) of the basic principles our nation’s governmental system was built upon would be so despised that it would recently have been removed from a court house in Alabama.  UNTHINKABLE!!!  I thank God for Judge Roy Moore’s knowledgeable, fearless, and firm stance, but what new, absurd action will our nation take?

Luther was an incredible example of a man who wouldn’t budge.  His famous words speak loud and clear of what all of us should be willing to say in the face of loss of life or reputation:  “My conscience is held captive by the Word of God.  Here I stand, I can do no other.”

This man changed the direction of nearly every facet of our world.  It wasn’t through top 10 songs, cheering crowds, or big honoraria!  It was by his fearless willingness to follow Jesus Christ and His Word!  It was an unwavering decision that he held a truth worth dying for.  This kind of man or woman makes hell tremble.

Luther had a passion for His gracious and forgiving God and His powerful and enduring Word that no person or position in this world could supersede.  Do we hang on to or cling to God’s Word and its truth the same way?  Would we be willing to pay the same price that Luther and many others have paid?
