"HE’S STILL SPEAKING"

God has shown His love for mankind in manifold ways. He began speaking thousands of years ago, long before there was a written language. The Bible tells us that “The heavens declare the glory of God.” Anyone can look at the sky at night and intuitively know that there is a Creator. The odds of this universe “just happening” by some mere chance are beyond the borders of logic.

Beating inside each human being is a heart that longs to know they were placed here for a purpose. Even the atheist has this longing. One day, the famous artist, Picasso, a lifelong atheist and adulterer, grabbed the hand of the only woman he ever really loved, and hurriedly brought her to a local chapel. Incredulous, she cried, “You don’t even believe in God!” Picasso responded with, “I know, but there just might be something here!”

He could feel it!

God created us so that He could have a relationship with us. But as you’ll recall, Adam and Eve disobeyed God, were banished from the Garden of Eden, and the propensity to sin entered the human race. But, sin causes separation from God, because He is holy and will not abide in sin’s presence. But, He had a plan…

The Bible says we all have sinned. Although we may not have broken all of the 10 Commandments, we’ve broken at least some of them. “But I’ve never cheated on my wife,” you might say. Jesus said, if you look at a woman in lust, you commit adultery in your heart. God has a count of every wayward look and lie. Our best efforts aren’t good enough to enter His presence.

Jesus Christ, who was God in the flesh, paid the penalty for our sin; a debt we could never repay. He was sinless and gave Himself willingly on the Cross; dying a horrible death. Placed in a borrowed tomb, He arose three days later showing Himself to hundreds of witnesses. While some may try to diminish His impact, even those who would marginalize Jesus would have to admit that Jesus’ life changed everything! Much of Western Civilization owes its existence to this tender-hearted man who forgave the adulterer, wept when people died, and loved children.

But simply knowing this story isn’t good enough. To establish a relationship with God there must be repentance. This means you have to “change your way of thinking” about who you are (your need) and who Jesus is (your Savior). Repentance is simply turning from your own way and turning God’s way. Is He YOUR Savior? (Excerpted from “Reviving Your Romance – 40 Days To a Better Marriage”)
