"A Random Thought?"

Have you ever had random thoughts or words pop in to your mind while you’re praying? Occasionally these are given by the Lord for a purpose.

Our mission’s outreach this past summer took us to Southeastern Siberia – an area steeped in Buddhism. Christians make up only 1/10 of 1 % of this region!

One evening Barbi woke up with the words ”Gea Shea Llama” on her mind. She continued to wake up off and on thinking these words. “I kept waking up; praying for Gea Shea Llama.” Barbi said, “I asked the Lord, ‘Who or what is Gea Shea Llama?’ But the Lord was silent. So I committed to pray and hold it in my heart.”

"The next morning, one of the ministers reminded me that Llama is what they call Buddhist teachers. So I thought perhaps it was the name of one of the leaders of Buddhism near where we were ministering. As our trip progressed, I probed and finally found out that the Gea Shea Llama are actually the ‘ordained priests’ of the Buddhist temples. I had never heard this title. But I was told that after these priests have training in the teachings of Buddhist philosophy, they are sent to India where they are ‘commissioned’ and appointed to temples around the world. At the time, I thought, ‘Okay Lord, that’s great – but what’s the purpose of knowing this’?”

Well, on a flight from Milan to Atlanta, the last leg of our trip, Barbi and I sat next to a well dressed man who spent most of the trip with his hands cupped, like Luke Skywalker summoning the “force”. Barbi initiated a conversation with him.

This man was a Buddhist healer! He gives seminars all over the world, and his “master” (a Gea Shea Llama!) lives in Thailand. Barbi shared the Gospel with him, and soon tears came to his eyes as he spoke of his Italian father who was very sick… an illness that he was unable to heal. Barbi promised that we would pray in Jesus’ name for his healing.

If you walk with the Lord, don’t dismiss those “random” thoughts – they might be preparing you for God’s divine appointments. (Pray for Nino, that God would miraculously heal him and that he and his son, Rama, will come to know Jesus.) Check out more stories at: www.heartfortheworld.com.
