Terrorists headed for OUR hotel!
(read story on Militia to set this story up)

After the team's passports were confiscated at the military base, we were sent away and told to come back for them in a couple of days.  With the militia now holding all our legal identification, we rode back to our high-rise hotel a bit stunned but at least grateful and praising God that we weren't in prison or deported (though we didn't know what the outcome would be).

While this was happening, another amazing event was taking place in another section of Ulan-Ude that very day...

When we arrived at our hotel, which was the nicest and tallest building in this city of a half million people, we were a little nervous to see many security personnel and military officers surrounding it and patrolling inside the building.  As we entered the lobby, we were asked to open some of our bags and declare things we were bringing into the hotel.  This was unnerving as we hadn't had to do this in the days up to this point, and, as mentioned, we no longer had our passports with us.

No one told us why extra security measures were being taken.  But we really thought that the militia were now suspicious of our team and were tightening security. This didn't stop the team.  Everyone was determined and unified that we would continue to minister, as God had called us to do.

Later that weekend, we found out a very surprising and different story than we had assumed.  One of the Russian speaking members of our team learned the real reason for this crack-down by the militia at our hotel.  Saturday, he heard one of the hotel administrators talking at the front desk.  Apparently, that very morning, a televised newscast had reported a terrorist attack attempt.  And this is what happened:

Two Muslim women were caught and arrested on Friday (while we were being held at the military base).  These two women had been found on a train in Ulan-Ude strapped with hidden suicide bombs.  One of the women had a map in her pocket...and guess what?!  ...OUR HOTEL WAS MARKED AS THEIR TERRORIST BOMBING DESTINATION!  Our hotel was the tallest, most modernized building in the city.

We were so relieved and again were praising God that He had protected us from being in the middle of what could have been a disaster!  We could almost physically feel the rage of the enemy at our team for coming and presenting the awesome and freeing truth of the Gospel.  Satan was obviously mad that we were spreading God's Word, life, and love among the Buryatian people.
