Tyler's Gift of Love

As usual, Terry and I are very proud of our boys!  I guess it's the normal parental way...

Through all of our failures and shortcomings, I have always been grateful for God's promises to parents!  Nearly every day of my life, I have claimed Isaiah 54:13, "All your sons will be taught by the Lord, and great will be your children's peace."  When my sons seemed to rise above my own level of maturity, I always went back to this verse, thanking God that He had promised his "Counselor", the Holy Spirit, to pick up where I have fallen down on the job!

We are so thankful that Tyler and Travis (now 18 and 17 years old) have eagerly served the Lord with us through all these years since they were born!  We know, now that Tyler is in college and Travis will be in college next year, that their lives will take other turns as God leads them, but we feel confident that both of them will make Spirit-led decisions as we encourage them.

With these things in mind, we wanted to share a story with you regarding this past summer's trip to Siberia:

When Tyler and Travis were told last Spring that we had the invitation to go to Siberia to minister again, they both got very excited.  In fact, we told them all our options, as we had invitations to minister in Nigeria, Thailand, and several other new as well as previous countries of need where we've been before.  But when we asked them to pray with us about where the Lord wanted us to go, they were the ones that actually helped us finally make the decision to do another outreach in Siberia.  (We were so thankful they had really enjoyed being with this particular team years ago when we had gone to Tyumen, Siberia... another large city in the southern-central region of Russia.)

After we made the final decision to go and began our preparations, Tyler came to us one evening and shared something the Lord had spoken to him.  He said, "Mom and dad, God has been so good to me, and he has always provided all I have needed to worship Him with instruments and equipment (Tyler has enjoyed working many hours in our little demo studio in the Heart for the World Outreach building as well as running sound for all our concerts and seminars as well as playing guitar in our concerts).  I believe God wants me to buy a guitar to bring to Siberia and give to someone that needs one."

We were thrilled that at just shy of 18 years of age, he was hearing God's voice for himself.  So we encouraged him and he purchased a guitar out of his own hard-earned money.  For most of the trip, he used the guitar, praying that God would show him the perfect person in need.  Well, it didn't take long for Terry and I to spot the perfect fellow, but we kept our mouths shut as Tyler sought the Lord throughout the trip.  As Tyler shared his thoughts with us near the end of the trip, we confirmed God's voice and will as he chose the one we had had our eyes on to bless with this wonderful instrument of worship!

This young man and his wife, Pasha & Svyeta, have gone on all three of these Siberian mission outreaches with our team.  They are a couple who both received Bible training at St. James Bible College in Kiev, Ukraine.  While they were students, they had been chosen to be two of the students that tha would get this hands-on ministry training joining us in ministry.  Both greatly gifted in ministry, they went on after college to become the Worship Leaders of a church they helped to plant in "Yellow Waters, Ukraine".

We have seen them grow in the Lord over these years and in fact have had the privilege of praying with them to have children.  When they decided to get pregnant 3 years ago, they found out that Svyeta had a physical condition that would not allow her to have babies.  Though she was devastated by this news, she wanted to believe God for healing because she loves children.  Two times now, we have prayed with them and God has blessed her womb.  They have one baby and now again another on the way!

Pasha, plays keyboard and guitar to lead worship as they both sing.  But until this summer, he has always had to borrow someone else's guitar.  But because of Tyler's keen ears to the Lord and his generous purchase and gift, Pasha has a brand new Yamaha Electro-Accoustic.  Praise God that He supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory!
